Ancestry Searching On Hold

Haven't done any in depth researching for at least a month now. Not because I've lost interest but because I'm struggling with the pain of rheumatoid arthritis. Pain in my fingers, hands, wrists, and arms has put up a big obstacle to my ability to work at the computer. Typing is painful. The mouse is not my friend anymore. After an overnight stay in the hospital with chest pains and arm pains, testing verified my heart is fine. My primary suspected it was just water retention after holiday feasting. With the pain gradually increasing that theory got thrown out and he finally referred me to a rheumatologist who tentatively diagnosed me as having rheumatoid arthritis. I'm supposed to find out more on a follow up visit two weeks from today. In the meantime he gave me samples of Celebrex, a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug and told me to call him in one week (today) to advise if it's working. It is but only slightly. And of course when I called his office as he instructed,  I had to leave a message that I called and wait to see if they call back with ideas of something better.

So my attempts to continue my family history search are just quick trips into Ancestry.com in response to other family tree members inquiries and hints that the website alerts me to as possible family history. But I can't do much more than that until I get some better drugs. Hate to be a pill popper but this hurts like the dickens! And I'm a big baby when it comes to pain. Don't care for it much.

  1. I'm so sorry to hear about your RA; I do hope by now you've found something that helps. Are you aware of speech-to-text programs for you computer. (I think one is called "Dragon," and I've heard good reports about it.

I haven't been around for a while, but hope to get back to reading - and blogging, myself - very soon!
